The Blue Mountains –on the Country of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples –is best known for its soaring sandstone ridges and escarpments blanketed in native bushland.

But why are the Blue Mountains blue? Eucalyptus oil droplets emitted from the forests combine with dust particles and water vapour, scattering short wavelength rays of light which are predominantly blue in colour. The mountains are various hues of blue, in any weather you may see them. We love this blue and sandstone palette, and have been inspired by it and the majesty of the Blue Mountains for this set of prints.
